From:Saint Petersburg, Fl U.S.A.
Message:You close your eyes and travel back
To the time when the light went fading fast
And the words you'll never, never forget, oh no
As you slipped away

And I who went to sleep in tears
Woke up in tears, for all of the years
And I who never, never said goodbye
As I slipped away

Goodbye baby
I hope your heart's not broken
Don't forget me
Yes I was outspoken
You were with me all the time
I'll be with you one day

Goodbye baby
I hope your heart's not broken
Don't forget me
Yes I was outspoken
You were with me all the time
I'll be with you one day

Yes, I'll be with you one day

Message:Dear Ralph and family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy at the passing of Joan. Having just lost my own mother Elizabeth in February of this year I can relate to the tremendous loss that you each feel. What matters is the loving memories that we share with that person and because of these memories our loved ones forever reside in our hearts. I know that I have many fond memories of both Joan and Ralph from my childhood to my adult years. I will forever remember Joan's loving smile and caring for those she loved. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I can see Joan and Elizabeth in heaven having a wonderful reunion and being with all those we love that have gone before them. God bless you and keep you in his loving care during this most difficult time.

Message:To Ralph, JP, Tim, Bryan and all the Brandts, we are so sorry to hear of your loss over here in Ireland.  Joan was a very special lady as you all know and a tough negotiator on rent as a landlady!!  I have many many wonderful memories of Joan but especially remember 'happy hour' on the veranda in Rehoboth where  from 5PM every evening we had a lot of laughs listening to her funny stories, which mostly involved Ralph and the boys, and generally exploring the cultural differances and similarities between the Irish and American peoples.  This all happened over a few drinks of course!!.  Joan and Ralph took us into their family over a period of three summers, took us on trips (mostly to DC and sometimes to Lion King!!), introduced us to their friends and on the odd occassion, when we got in trouble (we were young then), she defended us like a tigress. I can honestly say she was a surrogate mum to us when we were there and for that I am eternally grateful (as are my parents).  She will be sorely missed and will be in our prayers.

Ar Dheis De go raibh a hanam Dilis (may she rest in peace).

Patrick
