Martha Carolyn Orvin Pigg, 68, of 6026 First St.,(Curdsville) Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Wilson, N. C.and had been the co-owner of the D. U. I. School in Evansville, In. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Jr. League of Owensboro, and the Kappa Delta Sorority. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina and her Masters degree in counseling from Western Ky. University. She taught piano, enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and going to the beach. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martine Orvin in Nov., 2004 and her father, Jesse Orvin, Jr. in 1988.
Surviving is her husband of 16 years, Billie C. Pigg, two daughters, Martha Page of Walton, Ky. and Carol Carter of Owensboro, and a son, Major Walter Shearer, IV of Randolph Air Force Base in Shertz, Tx., and five grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
