Lieutenant Commander Jane Lanham Tafoya, 43, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2006 while stationed with the United States Navy in Bahrain as an Industrial Hygienist, CIH.  Born April 20, 1963 in Daviess County, she attended St. Pius X School and Church and was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School; Murray State University and Temple University.  She was a loving wife and mother.  During her 18 years in the Navy, she served at the Naval Hospital and Naval Reserve Center  in Philadelphia, the Bureau of Medicine in Washington, DC, the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, NC, aboard the USS Ronald Reagan and at the Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit 2 at Norfolk, VA.  She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin “Bill” Lanham.  

She is survived by her husband, John Tafoya of Smithfield, VA; daughters, Rachel and Natalie Tafoya of Smithfield, VA; her mother, Avis Natalie Lanham of Owensboro; brother, Brad (and his wife Kathy) of Owensboro; a sister, Phyllis (and her husband Kenny) of Eufaula, AL; father-and mother-in-law, Miguel and Remedios Tafoya of Pamona, CA; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Miguel A. Tafoya of Rialto, CA, Carmen Tafoya Dominguez of Rosemead, CA, Veronica (and Jake) Harris and Leticia (and Peter) Garcia of Ontario, CA, Fernando (and Cathy) Tafoya and Yesenia (and David) Legaspi, and Albert Tafoya of Pomona, CA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services are 10 A.M. Friday, September 29, 2006 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Richard Meredith officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery.  Visitation will be from  2-8 P.M. on Thursday and after 8:30 A.M. on Friday.  Prayers will be 7:30 P.M. Thursday.
