Charles W. “Charlie” Wedding, 78, of 11051 State Route 764, Whitesville, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System.  He was born May 22, 1930 in Daviess Co. to the late Louis P. and Oma Agnes Hagan Wedding.  He was retired as District Manager from Texas Gas after 42 ½ years of service.  He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Whitesville #2046.  He was also a Ky. Colonel, a member of the Whitesville Lions Club and had received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 2007 from them and also received the Sophia Award  as the Outstanding Senior Citizen for 2001 given by St. Mary of the Woods and the Diocese of Owensboro.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing pool, and raising a garden.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul C. Wedding in 2008.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Theresa H. Wedding, five sons, Gerald Wedding and wife Marie of Whitesville, Thomas Wedding and wife Anita of Owensboro, Joe Wedding and wife Jeanie of Reynolds Station, Jeff Wedding and wife Cindy of Lawrenceburg, and David Wedding of Santa Fe, New Mexico, two daughters, Brenda Hamilton and husband Gene of Owensboro and Debbie Allen and husband Joey of Lodiburg, Ky., 15 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two brothers, Louis Pat Wedding, Jr. of Philpot and James “Bun” Wedding of Poole, Ky., and three sisters, Sue Sapp, Mary Howard, and Raymunda Calhoun, all of Owensboro.

Services will be 12 Noon Monday, January 19 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.  Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home.  Knights of Columbus services will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday and parish prayers will be at 6:00 P.M.
