     Jarriett Berkley Flood was born on December 14, 1929 in Caledonia, Mississippi. He was the eldest of nine children born to the union of Reverend James Daniel Flood Sr. and Sadie Thomas Flood of Columbus, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, McCoy W. Flood and two sisters Robbie Flood Lowe, and Betty Flood Riley.
     In 1950 Jarriett B. Flood joined the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He was released with an honorable discharge.
     He was united in Holy Matrimony to his loving wife Louise Bridges in 1949 who preceded him in death on July 13, 2001. Nine children were born to that union with one daughter (Patricia Ann Flood) preceding him in death in 1993.  Jarriett B. Flood was a devoted husband and father, and a kind friend to those who loved him.
     Jarriett B. Flood worked as a steel worker for St. Louis Casting Company until his retirement in 1995.
     Jarriett B. Flood departed this life on January 26, 2009 at Veterans Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
     He leaves to cherish his memory six sons, Ronald (Darletta) Flood of Columbus, Mississippi; William Flood, Omaha, Nebraska, Bobbie Flood, Willie (Verdell) Flood; Torcus Flood, and Marcus Flood all of East St. Louis, Illinois; four daughters Jonnie (James) Barkley, Gloria Flood, Debra Flood, and Barbara (Sam) Flood-Smith, all of East St. Louis, Illinois; one brother Minister James Daniel Flood Jr., Columbus, MS; four sisters, Dorothy Flood Lowe, Betty Flood Logan, of Caledonia, MS; Sadie Flood Bostick, Dorothy F. Leonard, of Columbus, MS; twenty grandchildren with special mention of Fallon Uneeke Flood who preceded him in death in 1992 and forty great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends
