Dixie ‘Dee’ Kay Swift
CORYDON, Iowa — Dixie “Dee” Kay Swift, 63, departed this life Monday, January 25, 2010.
Service will be held today at the Randolph Funeral Home, Corydon. The Rev. Dr. Melvin Grimes will officiate. Burial will be at the Confidence Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Pets and More Animal Shelter, Washington.
Mrs. Swift was born May 27, 1946, in Centerville, the daughter of Earl Ray and Mildred Marie Clevenger Barrell.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother.
She was a home health care provider for Guardian Health Care, LeClaire.
She loved planting flower gardens and would then relax and enjoy their beauty. She loved and was a rescuer of animals. She loved stting in her family room watching the birds and squirrels eat at numerous feeding stations that were constructed by her husband, Paul.
She raised two granddaughters, Christina Houston and Katelynn Monroe as daughters. She also raised her grandson, Douglas Houston as a son.
Those left to celebrate her life and carry on her legacy are her husband, Paul Swift of West Chester; her children, Tammie Robertson and husband, Richard, of Davenport, Teresa Chapman and special friend, Melvin Grimes, of East Moline, Illinois, Tina Scalf and husband, Sam, of East Moline, Illinois; her step-children, Marty Collett and husband, Brandon, and Monte Swift; sisters, Maxine, Nancy and Sherry; brothers, Bill, Nick and Danny; grandchildren great-grandchildren, many cousins and numerous friends.
