Palmer, Veronica A. (Purda) Bren, 90, of Green St died Sunday at Wing Memorial Hospital. Born in the Bonsville section of Palmer, on Sept. 29, 1912, she was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Anthony & Sophie (Cymbalista)Purda. Veronica was a clerk for the former Keith & Horgan Pharmacy in Three Rivers for many years before retiring. She had also worked as a sales clerk for Woolworth’s in Palmer , and as a fore person at Colorado Fuel & Iron. Mrs. Bren was that company’s first female fore person. Veronica attended Palmer Schools and was a communicant of Sts. Peter & Paul Church. She was a member of the church’s Ladies Guild, and also volunteered at the gift shop at Wing Memorial Hospital “Vee” was known for her gourmet cooking which she did mostly out of her home. Her culinary talents earned her the title “Dessert Queen”. Veronica was an extremely accomplished seamstress and also loved to knit. She was predeceased by her husband, William Bren in 1968, and is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara Bren, with whom she lived, and two sons Robert J. Bren of Pensacola, FL & William R. Bren of Palmer. She was the caring sister of Josephine Marchelewicz and Augustus “Gus” Purda both of Palmer. She was the grandmother of 3, and is also survived by several nieces & nephews. Veronica was predeceased by brothers Stanley, Walter and William Purda, and sisters Anna Purda and Sophie Barscz. A funeral service will be Thurs. at 9:00 am from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in Sts. Peter & Paul’s Church. Burial will follow in Sts.
