John Orland Clark, the son of Marvin O. and Violet (Lancaster) Clark was born December 15, 1922 at Durham, Iowa. He died suddenly on Thursday, January 24, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 9 days.

John was raised on a farm in Marion County, Iowa. He entered the United States Navy in l942 serving 4 years and then served 7 years with the Air Force. He was united in marriage to Doris L. Hartman on November 30, 1945 at Des Moines, Iowa; she died on December 23, 1991. John lived in Des Moines and worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone for 27 years, retiring in January of 1981. He was later united in marriage to Geraldine Bruce Hartman on May 29, 1993 in Red Oak, Iowa. John and Geraldine moved to Red Oak in l998. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Oak, American Legion Post Baty-Tucker #168 in Knoxville, Iowa, V.F.W. #14000 in Kansas City, Missouri, Telephone Pioneers of America and a lifetime member of Communications Workers of America. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

John is survived by his wife, Geraldine Clark of Red Oak, Iowa, a son Michael Clark of New Virginia, Iowa, a sister, Daisy Anderson of Knoxville, Iowa, 2 brothers, Robert O. Clark of Sun City West, Arizona and Fred J. Clark of Texarkana, Texas, 2 step-daughters, Theresa Limbrick of Red Oak, Iowa and Susanne Colter of Council Bluffs, Iowa, other relatives and friends.
